And then when you are those things, the world tells you they are inferior: illogical, weak, vain, empty. The world teaches you that the way you exist in it is disgusting — you watch boys cringe backward in your dorm room when you talk about your period, blue water pretending to be blood in a maxi pad commercial. It is little things, and it is constant. In a food court in a mall, after you go to the gynecologist for the first time, you and your friend talk about how much it hurts, and over her shoulder you watch two boys your age turn to look at you and wrinkle their noses: the reality of your life is impolite to talk about. The world says that you don’t have a right to the space you occupy, any place with men in it is not yours, you and your body exist only as far as what men want to do with it. At fifteen, you find fifteen-year-old boys you have never met somehow believe you should bend your body to their will. At almost thirty, you find fifteen-year-old boys you have never met still somehow believe you should bend your body to their will. They are children. They are children.”

-
| Stevie Nicks (via laesquinalatina)

Last December, @SeinfeldToday started tweeting out addictingly relatable mini-“Seinfeld” plots revolving around modern day annoyances. Co-run by BuzzFeed’s Jack Moore, the account picked up more than 75,000 followers its first day, and after about a week it was in the hundreds of thousands. Stories about it popped up everywhere; it was the parody account of the moment.

An army of imitators followed, and among them was a clunky, typo-ridden faux-clone that had the same gimmick but was deeply dissonant: @Seinfeld2000.

Profane, nonsensical and often dark, the account viciously and hilariously lampooned @SeinfeldToday, attempting to poke holes in its formula while sending up the idea of parody accounts in general. It has an almost insurmountable barrier of entry, and it is often associated with that sect of Twitter users who must not be named. (In a fawning tribute, The Daily Dot called it “Weird Twitter’s parody about nothing.”) But whether the humor is your brand or not, its dedicated fans find it among the funniest parody accounts on Twitter.

The account has amassed more than 7,000 followers, done a Reddit AMA, made believers of Lena Dunham and Rob Delaney, written a few BuzzFeed posts, launched a YouTube channel, and just released a 17,000-word eBook called “The Apple Store.” I caught up @Seinfeld2000 and asked: What’s the deal with S2K?

One night, Stephen Colbert and his Strangers With Candy co-star and co-creator Paul Dinello rented bassoons for a duet of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” Every time there was an instrumental break, they’d dramatically lean into the mouthpieces, lick their lips, and make other grand “about to play” gestures. But they never did, always pulling away from their instruments at the absolute last second, for almost ten minutes of this song. Finally, near the end, they blew into them with full force, having no idea how to play them. “It sounded like elephants dying,” says Showalter who, like Black, remembers this as one of the funniest things to ever happen at Stella. Wain doesn’t remember it, but concedes that his own recollection of bits is hazy because between Stella’s material, “I would go around the room in the audience and just flirt with girls.”
